The City does not mandate that projects achieve LEED Certification through the GBCI. Rather, the intent of the green building ordinance is to use LEED as a technical framework to ensure that buildings throughout the City achieve a higher level in building energy use, efficiency, and sustainability. This data set is an active record of the LEED profiles of large-scale development projects occurring in the City of Cambridge that are subject to Section 22.20 – Green Building Requirements of the Zoning Ordinance. The information provided is taken directly from the LEED Checklist associated with each project. This log is updated on an “as needed” basis as each project goes through the Green Building Review Process (Special Permit, Building Permit, and Certificate of Occupancy) and submits updated versions of its LEED narrative and checklist. Latitude and longitude coordinates for the North Point greenfield projects will be added as project locations become more precise.

Cambridge's Board of Zoning Appeal hears and decides appeals, applications for special permits, and appeals and petitions for variances from the terms of the Cambridge Zoning Ordinance. This dataset includes available records from October 1, 2013 through current. This dataset does not currently include data from a relatively small number of cases with the type "appeal," because these cases are structured differently from the more common variance and special permit type cases.
