Rural Outdoor Lighting District - Dark Skies (Unincorporated Areas)

The proposed Ordinance will establish the District with regulations that will conserve energy and resources and promote dark skies for the enjoyment and health of humans and wildlife, while permitting reasonable uses of outdoor lighting for nighttime safety and security. The regulations include limitations on allowable light trespass, fully shielding outdoor lighting, and imposes maximum heights of fixtures. The draft ordinance includes requirements for street lighting in rural areas, outdoor recreation facilities and signs. The draft map depicts areas located within the proposed District. Number of Sewage Spills in LA County (2013-2017)
data.lacounty.gov | Last Updated 2019-08-23T21:50:12.000ZReports from the California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS) sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) database were generated using the Interactive SSO Reports tool from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Sanitary Sewer Overflow Reduction Program. Data on Category 1, 2 and 3 SSOs in LA County for the years 2013 to 2017 was used. The number and volume of spills was analyzed. For some spills, only a portion of the spill volume may have reached a waterbody. Spills were categorized as small (<1,000 gallons), minor (between 1,000 and 10,000 gallons), or major (>10,000 gallons). Indicator: Sewage Spills 1. Data obtained from CIWQS (California Integrated Water Quality System) website, Interactive SSO Reports. 2. These filters were used to generate the Interactive SSO Reports: a. Select a county/counties: Los Angeles County b. Select Sewage Discharge Type: SSO Category 1 or SSO Category 2 & 3 (to obtain a picture of all of the spills) c. Enter a start date: 01/01/20XX d. Enter a end date: 12/31/20XX Example: 3. Once report is generated, click “Export all spill details to excel”. This will download an excel file to the computer. 4. All original downloads are named: SSO_Details_Raw(Year of Data) 5. Modified versions are named: SSO_Details(Year of Data) Indicator: Sewage Spills 1.
